How long have you been drawing?

I have been drawing since I was a little boy watching cartoons. That means I have been creating for 35 years. I would sit in front of the TV and try to draw the characters I saw on the screen.

What got you into art? Influences?

One of the main things that got me into art was illustrating my Dungeons & Dragons characters and their encounters while my friends and I played the game. One of my greatest influences and inspirations in my life was my best childhood friend Chris Gliebe. He was very creative and we would hang out and draw together all the time. He is the head artist at a video production company called Lightborne now. Check out his work!

Do you dabble in other types of art? What specifically?

I really enjoy airbrushed painting. I airbrushed t-shirts every summer at an amusement park in Cincinnati, OH while I was in high school and college. I learned how to manipulate color and lines early in my art career while airbrushing with other artists there. I still dabble in airbrushing if anyone is interested in commissioning me to make to make artwork for them.

What caricature themes are you the most excited to create?

I really enjoy very dynamic themes. I like the challenge of making the design and action on the page appear as if it's moving. I am also a HUGE science fiction and fantasy nerd, so any chance I get to draw warriors, wizards or monsters I get very excited.

What is your favorite caricature story?

My favorite thing that happened to me recently was that my cousin from the east coast that I haven't seen in 12 years or more came to visit me while I was drawing at the Bite of Seattle and I got to meet and draw his two teenage sons, whom I had never met, as their favorite super heroes. It was such a great honor to entertain them with my art and catch-up while performing this job that I love.

Why are YOU the best choice to entertain at a special event?

When it comes to my live-drawings, I excell at making the subject feel at ease. I am a very sociable person that really enjoys interacting with other people. I can talk with people of all ages easily and have the ability to make the awkwardness of being drawn by a stranger not feel so strange. I also feel that the likeness that I am able to acheive in my drawing is very successful and people can walk away from the experience with a drawing they enjoy and a smile on their face.
